How I organize and pack my Bubu's bag.
Organizing makes life easy as things are easy to find, saves time and the bonus is your surroundings/things always look neat and pretty.
I am a big fan of organizing things. I feel it makes life easy as things are easy to find, and the bonus is your surroundings/things always look neat and pretty. In this blog I cover how to pack your Bubu's travel bag. I have been using this technique since our first family vacation. It's easy to manage, will help you to be dressed faster, keep your Bubu looking a daper dude and even your partner can help dress your Bubu sans the crazy combos s/he makes that may drive you a tad mad.
Create an outfit
Predefine the entire outfit by laying out the various pieces; clothing + accessories. Make combos that look best as per your taste. I like to pair a shirt + pant with matching socks and hat and if relevant a tie. I will carry 1 extra pair of shoes, only if I think it is necessary.
Folding and arranging technique
I am demonstrating a boy outfit but the same technique can be used for girl dresses too.
- Choose any of your paired outfit combos.
- Fold the pants in half lengthwise, and then again in half widthwise.
- Fold the shirt in thirds widthwise, with the hands folded inwards. Leave last fold open.
- Place the pant in the shirt.
- On top of the pants lay the socks and tie.
- For the most recent trip, I also added a diaper in each outfit so it becomes more convenient.
- Top it with a hat, if possible fold the hat.
- Fold the last open end of the shirt over, to form a clothes-sandwich of sorts. So in the morning you take one clothes-sandwich, towel, your Bubu and you are set, to bathe and dress in less than 20 minutes.
- Night suits can be folded similarly. Fold pant in half and the shirt in half, lengthwise this time. Place the pant in the shirt, and fold in half again. Add a diaper. I have a step-by-step of this technique in my closet organization blog post.
- Lay all the folded outfits, one on top of the other. Preferably, as per the day your Bubu will wear it. Place it in the bag.
- Fill the gaps in the bag with lotions, meds, diapers. I mostly put all the meds in one zipper pouch. This includes Tylenol, Zarbees cough+cold, Gripe water and saline spray. Another zipper pouch has all the skin care products. Head to toe lotion, sunscreen, bug spray (if needed).
I would love to know in the comments, how do you simplify your vacation with a toddler using organization as a tool.
