Everyone wants to host a baby shower and celebrate their new beginning. I won't deny, with the baby coming in everything starts to add up. I made my own baby shower decorations and the party favors. Party favors turned out to be really inexpensive, quick and easy to make. As they are handmade everyone's going to feel the love. I received a lot of appreciation for my enthusiasm and effort from loved ones. These favors holds as very special memory now in my heart, as making handmade soaps brought me a lot of joy, which makes it totally worth it. This blogpost documents how to make a soap. These soaps are made with organic and natural ingredients. Hope this helps someone on a budget.
Let's make it:
You will need
Soap base - Mostly found at craft stores. There are tons of variety. I choose to make mine in pure glycerine as its really nourishing for the skin and has no chemicals.
Dried edible rose buds- I found these at chinese tea store
Dried rosemary- Can be sourced at any grocery store
Oils of your choice- I used a blend of Rose hip seed oil, Carrot seed oil, Geranium, Argan oil, Avocado oil, Grape seed oil , Apricot kernel oil, Coconut oil, Olive oil, Jojoba oil
Silicone mold- I used the one I had at home for mini cakes.
Process
Melt the soap base for 30 seconds using microwave. See the instructions on the packaging as each variety and brand has a different requirement.
Add the oil blend to the melted base.
Pour the mixture in the silicone molds.
If you want to add the dried flowers and leaves inside the soap, fill the base halfway up with the base mix. Arrange the flowers and leaves as per your liking. Wait for the base mix to solidify. Top the rest of the mold with the base mix.
Wait for 15 mins for the base to solidify and repeat.
I used cling wrap to pack these air tight.
To complete the project, I put on homemade black-n-white labels with the ingredients listed in it.
I made 60 party favours and it took me 2 hours. That's investment of 2 minutes per soap, which is not bad. I did have help of my husband to melt the base as it was a very last minute decision to make these and also late at night.
I hope this inspires you to try it out, as you can see it's so easy anybody can make this even if they are not crafty. Infact, it can be a craft to make together if you have a older child (6-10 years old).
