Celebrate your pregnancy!

Updated: Oct 15, 2019

Listing all the DIY's I did for documenting my pregnancy or celebrating this stage. I strongly feel as a woman we should also enjoy this stage, of our womanhood.

All DIY or activity I did has built and some are still building such beautiful memories everyday for us as a family.

I was few of the lucky ones who did not have intense morning sickness. I did have aversions to certain food types and wasn't in general interested in food during pregnancy but I was blessed! Our pregnancy was planned we had decided this year lets try for a baby and luckily for us we got pregnant as per plan. So I think I was coming from this total place of luck and bliss which kept my spirits high during pregnancy. Also in general I am always excited and have the energy and love towards building things for the phase in life I am in.

Pregnancy looked to me like numerous opportunities to design several spaces, things and life around a baby. I took up quite a few projects for documenting my pregnancy or celebrating this stage. Here's a list of all the projects I did:

  1. Write a weekly letters to the baby telling what all happened in the 40 weeks

  2. Flip book with a weekly belly shoot

  3. DIY announcement video for extended family and friends

  4. DIY announcement pop-up + musical card for parents and sibling

  5. Documenting Parents and sibling reaction to pregnancy announcement (Side project)

  6. DIY decorations for the baby shower

  7. DIY baby shower party favors- soap & bath salt

  8. DIY gender reveal for parents n siblings

  9. DIY Baby room

I feel all of them were worth it. All DIY or activity I did has built and some are still building such beautiful memories everyday for us as parents and for Bubu a memory of his childhood. I think it's worth investing your time and effort.

I would suggest to everyone who is pregnant right now, try celebrating this life-stage of pregnancy. There is lot of social and sometimes even cultural stigma and importance to "do nothing or just sit or lie down" during pregnancy. Definitely listen to your body and don't stress it but don't make this stage - your pregnancy - your handicap. As women we should enjoy this stage, of womanhood. There are tons of things you can do to enjoy, to document, to build memories. They need not be a DIY. It can be a photoshoot by a friend or professional, it can be a special announcement made with templates online, it can be readymade or etsy ordered custom quilt. Anything that makes you feel special, celebrates this stage and most importantly celebrates you. This is one of the thing's we have control on, to be remembered as a pleasant stage when we reflect back on our life.
